The International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) and the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) hosted a luncheon briefing during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS on 2 June 2005 to underscore the message that the world needs better long-term solutions to meet the ongoing challenges of the AIDS pandemic. The discussion focused on the need for new preventive technologies – notably microbicides and vaccines against HIV – and on the immediate investments required for their development. |
