Short Description:    PosterEnding AIDS: The Search for a Vaccine is the complex and compelling story of one of the greatest scientific and technological challenges ever: the search for an AIDS vaccine.
Description:   "We're trying to teach the immune system to defend itself against what is arguably the most formidable enemy it has ever faced," says Jon Cohen, author of Shots in the Dark, the book that inspired this project. Ending AIDS transforms the intricacies and jargon of science into a terrifically lucid, fast-paced study of technology and human initiative at their outer limits. From sex workers in Nairobi who don't contract HIV to monkeys with SIV at Harvard, every discovery seems to hold the key. But none has yet unlocked the secret of HIV's seemingly unlimited ability to evade detection and defeat our bodies' defenses. At its core, Ending AIDS is a mystery without a villain and a rallying cry to get behind the search once again. The film will be aired on PBS stations throughout the US during December 2005.
